Hi everyone! I recently moved to Zurich and I am looking for an alternative to primark as I will have to buy double bed sheets, duvet and pillow. Before anybody starts talking about sustainability, I am fully aware about what going for cheap stuff usually implies, but as a student I really cannot afford any other price range. (H&M and Zara are already out of question as over 100 for a basic set ). Also if any of you knows how amazon works in Switzerland that would be good too! Thank you for your suggestions!

See title. I contacted a private landlord on kijiji, had a 20-30 minute phone call with a lady and was provided an address, told I was meeting her husband. Upon arrival to the house, a man answered and asked if I was looking for long or short term, I said short, he didn't let me in and said follow his car, they have another house 2 km away to show me. Kind of sketchy, but OK I followed him. I initially thought it might be a trap to rob me or so something bad, but his vibe was OK and nothing happened. Gave me a house tour, first impression it's chilly! But clean and spacious. I asked to see the thermostat, it was set to only 18 degrees Celsius. Bedroom had no desk, no chair, no night table lamp. Kitchen: buy your own pots, pans, silverware, dishware. Bring your own sheets, bedding, pillows. Master with ensuite bathroom $920/month GTA (east Oakville). Get a bad feeling about the low temp. Isn't it supposed to be 20 Celsius minimum? They want first and last. EDIT: I contacted the landlord with some follow up questions including if they would increase the temperature, and guess what, they replied that they wouldn't be able to meet my needs. Yeah, because I pointed out they choose to leave their tenants chilly when the law says it should be 20-21C minimum. Cheapskates.
I picked up this Heywood Wakefield Kohinoor bed set with a twin bed from a small town antique/estate sale shop for pretty cheap when I moved a couple years ago. I have used it since then and intend to refinish it when I can. Does it count as MCM? The original dealer sticker says 1949 I believe.

Our master bedroom Makeover on a budget. We pretty much just bought paint (cheap) and finally used our Bed Bath and Beyond giftcard to get a new bed set. The difference an accent wall and repurposing furniture can make!!
Most people start earning money and are shocked about how expensive everything is, I was shocked about how cheap it was.
I got my first pay cheque and my first plan of action was to buy myself some new bedsheets as mine are old and tattered, whilst I was there I brought myself some pillows too because mine were worn stained and basically the the equivalent of resting your head on some folded clothes. I couldn’t believe how cheap they were! 2 nice big full pillows for £8! Why on earth have I had to go 10+ years with the same pillows! I was honest to god expecting to be spending around £60 on pillows. I used to think that I had the wrong size pillow slips because my pillows were so loose inside them. I’m actually shocked. ALSO food. The way my dad would react when I asked if we could please buy some food as we have none in the house. Now being able to buy my own food is a god send! And nothing like the fortune he made it out to be. Oh I should add, my dad is extremely well off. Growing up is weird when your whole view of reality is built on your parents bs. Edit: In bed now! Did you know you’re not supposed to have to fold 2 pillows in half and stack them to get support. I’m loving ittttt. Edit: I really wasn’t expecting to get this many upvotes or comments. What do I need to own before I move out of my parents house?
I’m about to graduate college and start a new job and I want to move out of the house my parents raised me in over the last 22 years! So my question is necessities do I need to own before I move out? So far I know silverware, furniture, dining set, towels, pots/pans, and drinking glasses! Thank you for your help!

Hi, all. Any advice is wonderful. To preface all of this, this girl was a former roommate for about 6 months until last year at this time (almost to the day), she 'left for the holidays' and never came back. About a month ago, I got back in touch with this girl on FB. She told me she missed Chicago and was trying to get her life back here, so she asked if she could crash at my place for a week while she interviewed. I said sure! We didn't really have any problems when we lived together. We actually got along really well. I offered my room as I was staying at my girlfriends most nights. I figured that way she'd be out of the main room and wouldn't bother the other roommates. She arrives. The very first night, starts loafing and wandering around the apartment like she lives there. Raises the heat. Roommate #1 tells me about it, I tell her. Life is good. Three days later, she does it again. Roommate flips shit. I calm him down, and give her a one more strike policy. Everything seems to be okay.. She got the job! She's all happy.. Fast forward to today... I come back to my place around 1pm just to grab a few things. I knock on my door to make sure she's not in there. No answer.. I open. She is sobbing into a pillow, black out drunk, bottles of liquor and beer everywhere. It isn't until she rolls over that i notice the giant spilled beer stain on my bed. Soaked through the pee cover, the memory foam cover, and into the bed. Also on my pillows. I don't have a cheap bed set, mind you. I get her up, she can barely walk. Reeks of booze and throw up. She immediately starts sobbing uncontrollably. I found out from our upstairs neighbor that she's been doing this ALL DAY starting at 9am. I left because I had to go to work. My roommates have been dealing with it sadly, but they're at their wits end. I'm a nice guy, but so am I. Got in contact with her mom. She said to call the police because they're not dealing with this stuff anymore. Her friend responded once, but hasn't responded since. Roommate #2 told me that she's been like this (passed out drunk) since Thursday. I'm a nice guy. Sometimes too nice, but even I have my breaking point. I'm at it. I'm a step away from calling the cops. It breaks my heart to do it, but she cannot stay at my place. She needs help. She's an alcoholic. I cannot help her anymore. What do I do? What happens if I call the cops? She is currently laying on the ground in front of our apartment with her stuff. Drunk. Crying. In Chicago. It's cold. TL;DR: Let a former apartment mate stay over to get her footing in Chicago. After a week and countless times she's pissed my roommates off, I found her drunk in my room, spilled beer all over my bed, so drunk she can't walk. She's doing nothing but sobbing. Won't listen. I tried talking but nothing. Do I call the cops? What happens if I do?
